Sadhguru is a Guru of great knowledge and compassion who works valiantly to help numerous people physically, mentally and spiritually to overcome their shortcomings and help them to progress in the right path. He has something special for everyone to transform every individual life in a most peaceful and beautiful way.
Born on 3rd September 1957 in Mysore, Karnataka to Dr. Vasudev and Susheela, his childhood name was Jagadish Vasudev and grew up with his one brother and two sisters. Since his father was an employee in the Indian Railways, he had to move frequently along with family and thus completed his early education in different schools from different cities.
As a child, he was active, curious and intelligent and had developed great interest and love for nature and adventure. Sadhguru got the first taste of yoga and spiritualism when he was 12 years, by Malladihalli Sri Raghavendra Swamiji, a prominent yoga teacher that changed the course of Sadhguru’s life.
Jaggi Vasudev had a short career as a successful businessman. His life took a complete U-turn when he had a spiritual experience on the afternoon of September 23, 1982, that brought spiritual awakening in him. He re-evaluated his life and priorities and decided to pursue a new way of life for his upcoming days. Thank God! For this kind of magical awakening to our Guru.
In 1992, he founded the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore, which offers yoga programs and unify social and community initiatives to promote social welfare and people’s well beings. The foundation has established “Action for Rural Rejuvenation”, a multi-phased program aimed towards improving the overall health and quality of life of the rural poor. Another significant project of Isha Foundation is Project Green Hands, which aim to plant 114 million trees throughout Tamil Nadu and increase the forest area in the state to 33 percent.
Gradually, Sadhguru established himself as one of the respected and renowned Gurus of India. He traveled many parts of the world and shared his knowledge and teachings with his devotee. People from all backgrounds came to visit him and Sadhguru interacted with all them addressing their queries and experiences.
Sadhguru is also a prolific author, who has penned many books to promote yoga, mysticism, well-being, inner peace and more. His most important creations are “Mystic’s Muslings”, “Three truths of well being” and “The inner engineering”.
His fundamental principle is ” I do not know” and advocates that the possibility of knowing arises in our lives only when we truly realize that” We do not know”.
He believes in fixing one’s own interior before going about fixing the external world. We should live happy, content and peaceful life at first and try to do better deeds for ourselves. When we do something wonderful with our life, then obviously we would share those fruits and benefits with others and make the world a better place to live.
Sadhguru is certainly a unique kind of yogi and mystic. That’s why, he is revered, followed and loved by many.
