Rhea is the founder and CEO of Ecoware, India’s first and largest sustainable packaging company. Due to her pioneering work in transforming the environmental impact of India’s packaging industry, Rhea has been appointed A World Economic Forum ‘Young Global Leader’, and recently been commended with The Nari Shakti Puraskar, the highest civilian honour for women in India.

Rhea was previously a member of Pfizer’s Oncology team in the UK, where she worked for several years in a commercial role with much success. After moving back to India, Rhea founded Ecoware with the objective of improving India’s plastic menace; Ecoware disrupted the food packing industry by introducing a fully compostable alternative to plastic and styrofoam.

In establishing Ecoware, Rhea had to overcome the stigma associated with being a female business owner and a non-native speaker. Despite these hurdles, Rhea convinced generational traders across India to modernise their packaging and confront their enviornmental impact of their work. One of Rhea’s greatest successes was convincing the Indian Railways – the largest food service operator in India – to switch to Ecoware packaging, revolutionising their affect upon the planet whilst growing profit margins substantially in the process.

Rhea has been featured in various publications, including Forbes, Hindustan Times, Economic Times, India Today and CNBC. Rhea is a recognised leader in a number of fields, not limited to the circular economy, sustainability and climate change. As a mother to two young children, Rhea cares deeply about the harmful impact that pollution can have on the most vulnerable and this motivates her in continuing to work with industry to do better for the planet.
