Dr. [Captain] Ritu Biyani’s uniqueness is seen in her attitude at breaking conventional barriers against many odds, even cancer.
This Dental Surgeon, an Adventurer and Motivational Speaker is a Breast Cancer Warrior, Cancer Campaigner and Patient Advocate.
She is the Founder of NGO ‘High>>>ways… Infinite” – a Borderless Drive to Empower people and Impact lives, before, through and beyond cancer. She is a resource person in pan India cancer awareness to step up cancer literacy in population And a Patient Advocate navigating them through their cancer journeys.
Her vision- to help reduce the incidence of advanced cancer cases, change the mindset of people towards cancer and celebrate survivorship.
3 times India’s Limca book of records holder in 2014, 2008 and 2007, Ritu is the ONLY person in India, who travels- often solo, from basties, villages to urban setups, border towns, high altitudes, socially unrest and hard to reach areas, taking cancer awareness and motivational campaigns at the doorsteps of myriad communities.
After soldiering through breast cancer in 2000, Ritu found herself equipped with an unique understanding of the illness and its challenges as a patient, social and professional’s perspective.
In 2006, along with her 14 yr old daughter Ms. Tista Joseph , the mother – daughter duo conceptualized, pioneered and lead “Project Highways” 2006- India’s FIRST adventure drive with cancer awareness mission across the country. Amongst several milestones achieved during Project Highways 2006, Ritu did a record distinction of solo driving 30,220kms in 177 days crossing highest motorable roads to the 4 tips of India and the mother daughter duo conducting 140 plus campaigns in 26 states and 4 UT.
In 2010, Ritu Conceptualized & Spearheaded “Highways Infinite Attitude and Altitude” First International cancer survivors’s Expedition on Cancer Advocacy and Survivorship in India wherein she lead the Australian team of breast Cancer warriors and caregivers to Ladakh on motorbikes and 4 wheeler.
To-date she has solo driven 2,00,000 + { 2 Lakhs+ } kilometers , educated over 3,00,000+ {3 Lakhs+ } people with cancer awareness. She has navigated thousands of patients and caregivers through their cancer journeys, raised financial and resources aid for needy patients and inspired many from all walks of life across the world.
Dr. Ritu’s other major milestones includes being First Cancer survivor/ warrior to trek 120kms up and down till Kumar Post of the Siachen Glacier- World’s highest and most treacherous battle field and longest glacier outside the polar region. & First Breast Cancer warrior to drive, compete and complete in Raid –De- Himalayas. World’s Highest, and India’s Toughest motor sport Rally in 2012.
She is also the First lady Paratrooper and Mountaineer from Indian Army Dental Corps where she served for 10 years. She is a Skydiver, Skier, solo driver.
She became the First lady from Maheshwari Marwadi Community to join the Indian Army in 1981.
Between 1981 to 1992 during her army tenure, she was the only lady officer who travelled to many forward areas to provide Dental cover to the troops, at the time when no lady officers were posted in those areas.
During the Covid Pandemic like a yoddha she worked for the home bound Shramiks (migrants) and Covid patients.
She has worked during Tsunami and extended guidance and material help in natural disasters like earthquake, floods to volunteer teams.
A National and International Speaker, Ritu is a recipient of over 53 awards and citations. She has keen interest in environmental issues, adventure activities, rural culture.
